Hi John,
Jim Alexander here. I was one of the SIBCA judges and I have to say we were all pretty impressed with the Standard all the more so as super hero comics are such a saturated market. Your and a couple of other stand-out pieces just lost out to the juggernaught that is Burke and Hare.
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the taking the time to get in touch with me! I am really grateful even for the nomination. I can’t complain to losing out to Burke & Hare. I read it, and it truly is a remarkable accomplishment of a book. I was just happy to be able to attend the awards, and see The Standard up there with such a high quality of competition. Also, the exposure that it’s got the comic, and the people that now know about it, can only be a good thing. So thanks again for the nomination, and the kind words about the book!
Best wishes,
– John
